Eligibility Requirements

Are You Eligible?

To train in cosmetic injectables, you must meet the following requirements set by AHPRA and industry standards.

AHPRA Registration

  • Current AHPRA registered nurse (Division 1)
  • Registration active and unrestricted throughout training
  • No sole mental health, paediatric or disability qualification without bridging

Current Practice

  • Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent post-registration experience
  • General or specialist nursing background accepted
  • No prior aesthetics experience required

English Proficiency

AHPRA registration requires proficiency in English — reading, writing, speaking and listening — to a level that ensures safe, clear communication with patients and the clinical team.

Professional Indemnity

You must hold adequate professional indemnity insurance covering cosmetic injectable procedures before treating patients — non-negotiable for safe, compliant practice.

Documentation Required

  • AHPRA registration certificate
  • Proof of nursing qualification
  • Employment history demonstrating 1 year post-registration experience

Post-Training Requirements

  • Prescriber access required for S4 medications
  • 6–12 months practical experience recommended before independent practice
  • CPD records including aesthetics-specific activities

Important Note
Nurses cannot prescribe S4 medications. A medical practitioner or nurse practitioner must prescribe all Schedule 4 injectable medications before every treatment.
